Rainy Day PETA, Penn and Teller, MySpace, Baseball Blues

It's raining, it's pouring, some people are still snoring. We had rehearsal last night and are spending the afternoon conducting a leisurely recovery from much late night revelry - E's home brew, single malts, Penn and Teller's new Showtime show B.S! and a very lively discussion about the crusades and extremist activism. Not a fan of conflict - I withdrew into my MySpace page for a while and finally we stopped debating the intricacies of the issues when D. shook his head and admitted he was "drunk and just talking smack" - not before issuing such gems as "The Catholic church vs. PETA - helllooooo?". Outstanding.

Watching the Indians beat the Angels on the TV - well, not actually watching, not actively anyway. It's sunny in Cleveland and D. is playing the guitar to my left, E. is figuring out the best way to make coffee at Bike Week without buying anything, J. is packing his drums into his car in the rain and T.J is reading the back of Pinchon's Vineland as if it were directions for an emergency trachiotomy (I don't know). There is a Hairy Downy Woodpecker on the tree outside the screen door. The rain just stopped and J. is reading a bird book.

The whole day lies ahead - I can hardly wait to see what's next. I was feeling peaceful and then I just realized I have to buy a formal gown before Friday for the BPL Gala - doh! C. just has to get a tux - being a girl is so labor intensive. Maybe I can enlist help from someone to shop with me? Shopping alone is maudlin - the depressive power of the mall is not to be underestimated.

It's still Saturday.
